The Inns in Spanish is one of the most important festivals of Christmas celebration. The festival includes various types of celebrations over nine nights. It includes gathering all the family members to commence the celebration of Mary and Joseph’s search for an inn on the night of Jesus’s birth. An angel usually leads the march as a symbolic act of Mary and Joseph finding shelter in a stable when they could not find lodging in Bethlehem. HISTORY OF LAS POSADAS
Originally the festival was invented during colonial Mexico. Now it is widely observed throughout Latin America. It has been believed that San Agustin de Acolman, near Mexico City, is where the first posadas were organized. Back in 1586, Friar Diego de Soria, the Augustinian prior, received a papal bull from Pope Sixtus V in order to celebrate what we know as ‘Christmas bonus masses’ or ‘Misas de Aguinaldo’. It is celebrated between the 16th and 24th. The festival perfectly depicts how the Catholic region in Latin America was adopted. It allows tribal people to understand as well as blend themselves with old beliefs.
Las Posadas is one of the most jovial festivals celebrated in Latin America, mostly children love this celebration. The best part of this is star-shaped piñatas filled with toys and candy. It includes children being blindfolded and hitting the piñata with a stick. Once you strike, it will break and people will run to grab the cadies that come out of it.
